To make your own version of an ice cream cake, you will need cake and ice cream. Whether homemade or store bought, it could be any flavour of cake and ice cream. First, you will need to cut the cake in inch thick slabs. For a first timer, it is best to make a circular ice cream cake. Once you get the hang of it, you can experiment using a rectangular or other shaped pan to create your ice cream cake.
On the bottom of your circular cake pan, assemble a bottom layer of cake then make a layer of ice cream with the same thickness.
